I wish I'd have found Processing years ago. Its a godsend to me. It cuts to the chase and says "make your program."
This is the program I'm working on. Its a paint program and I think very unique. Its rooted in the idea that for an artist to do their best work, they need to be a good self editor and prone to "happy" accidents.
One of the first things one learns in a drawing, painting, writing etc. class is to step away from your work. Get another perspective. In writing it might be sticking your greatest thing ever written in a drawer for two weeks and reading it with fresh eyes. In music you might play your worlds greatest mix on cheap boom boxes and expensive sound systems and anything in between. In visual arts you might physically step back or even look at it in a mirror.
This program is rooted in the idea that an artist must look at his work work in different ways. But it extends that. The artist can work on his piece when its in a different form. This is a paint program, so its all about working on a piece when it looks like a line drawing, when it looks like a pastel sketch, when it looks like a water color painting, when it looks like an HDR image. You draw on all the layers with colors unique to that layer. You can flip through them and work on any layer you like and all layers change accordingly.
Anyway, thats the program I am working on, and its pretty functional right now. The code is getting long. So what is the proper way to post this code and find people interested in developing this idea?
